El sistema de calibres, sin embargo, sigue una escala diferente que no es lineal. Los calibres o galgas de los metales son n\u00fameros est\u00e1ndar desarrollados midiendo el grosor de la chapa en relaci\u00f3n con su peso por pie cuadrado.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-sistema-de-calibrado-para-chapa-metalica\"><strong>Sistema de calibrado para chapa met\u00e1lica<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>A diferencia de los sistemas de medici\u00f3n m\u00e9tricos est\u00e1ndar, en los que el grosor de la chapa se indica directamente en mm, los n\u00fameros de galga representan el grosor bas\u00e1ndose en operaciones hist\u00f3ricas de embutici\u00f3n. Esto significa que un n\u00famero de galga m\u00e1s bajo corresponde a una chapa m\u00e1s gruesa, mientras que uno m\u00e1s alto indica una chapa m\u00e1s fina. Por ejemplo, la chapa de calibre 3 tiene un grosor aproximado de 6,07 mm (0,2391 pulgadas), mientras que la chapa de calibre 38 tiene un grosor de s\u00f3lo 0,15 mm (0,0060 pulgadas). En muchas regiones, las chapas de m\u00e1s de 6 mm se consideran chapas en lugar de chapas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Se recomiendan distintos calibres de chapa para aplicaciones espec\u00edficas.
