Au sein de l\u2019\u00e9quipe Production de<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fuelfighter.no\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Fuel Fighter NTNU<\/a>, je travaille avec 40 \u00e9tudiants b\u00e9n\u00e9voles sur l\u2019une des comp\u00e9titions d\u2019ing\u00e9nierie les plus exigeantes au monde : le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shellecomarathon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shell Eco-Marathon<\/a>. Notre mission est de concevoir des v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 tr\u00e8s haute efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, capables de repousser les limites absolues de la propulsion \u00e9lectrique.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-la-croisee-des-sciences-des-materiaux-et-de-l-efficacite-extreme\"><strong><strong>\u00c0 la crois\u00e9e des sciences des mat\u00e9riaux et de l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 extr\u00eame<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Ce qui m\u2019a attir\u00e9 vers Fuel Fighter, c\u2019est cette obsession de l\u2019optimisation. En sciences des mat\u00e9riaux, nous \u00e9tudions comment la microstructure influence les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s macroscopiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chez Fuel Fighter, nous appliquons cette m\u00eame logique \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble du syst\u00e8me v\u00e9hicule : comment obtenir des performances maximales \u00e0 partir d\u2019un minimum d\u2019\u00e9nergie ? C\u2019est l\u2019optimisation pouss\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019extr\u00eame \u2014 et c\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment ce qui me passionne.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-faire-renaitre-un-champion\"><strong><strong>Faire rena\u00eetre un champion<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>En 2019, Fuel Fighter 5 a accompli un exploit remarquable : 181 km\/kWh \u2014 l\u2019\u00e9quivalent d\u2019un trajet entre Trondheim et Oslo avec seulement 0,3 litre d\u2019essence. Le v\u00e9hicule ne pesait que 73 kg et a remport\u00e9 le prix du design au Shell Eco-Marathon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour la saison 2025\u20132026, nous adoptons une approche diff\u00e9rente. Plut\u00f4t que de repartir de z\u00e9ro, nous remettons en service le ch\u00e2ssis de Fuel Fighter 5 et appliquons tout ce que nous avons appris pour l\u2019am\u00e9liorer encore. Notre objectif est ambitieux : concevoir l\u2019un des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques les plus sobres en \u00e9nergie d\u2019Europe et d\u00e9crocher une place sur le podium au Shell Eco-Marathon 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous r\u00e9utilisons un ch\u00e2ssis \u00e9prouv\u00e9, mais en le poussant encore plus loin. Chaque gramme compte. Chaque millim\u00e8tre d\u2019espace est pr\u00e9cieux. Le principal d\u00e9fi r\u00e9side dans son dimensionnement : la conception doit \u00eatre la plus compacte possible afin de r\u00e9duire la masse, tout en \u00e9tant capable de supporter les efforts de direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La vis sans fin impose des tol\u00e9rances extr\u00eamement serr\u00e9es. Il s\u2019agit de profils de filetage et de g\u00e9om\u00e9tries qui doivent s\u2019ajuster parfaitement sous charge, tout en garantissant un fonctionnement fluide sur toute la plage de braquage. Les cotes critiques doivent \u00eatre tenues \u00e0 \u00b10,01\u20130,02 mm, avec un jeu ma\u00eetris\u00e9 autour de 0,05 mm pour assurer une r\u00e9ponse de direction pr\u00e9cise \u2014 le tout sur des composants pesant moins de 100 grammes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La fabrication traditionnelle atteint rapidement ses limites face \u00e0 cette combinaison de pr\u00e9cision et d\u2019all\u00e8gement. Les r\u00e9glementations de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 imposent un freinage redondant sur deux roues distinctes, et le syst\u00e8me doit fonctionner de mani\u00e8re irr\u00e9prochable, alors m\u00eame que le v\u00e9hicule p\u00e8se moins qu\u2019un adulte moyen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous concevons un syst\u00e8me de freinage l\u00e9ger comprenant plusieurs composants mobiles \u2014 \u00e9triers, supports et liaisons m\u00e9caniques \u2014 qui doivent fonctionner avec un minimum de frottements et un alignement parfait. Les supports d\u2019\u00e9triers pr\u00e9sentent des g\u00e9om\u00e9tries complexes, avec des \u00e9videments et des nervures suivant les chemins de contrainte identifi\u00e9s par analyse par \u00e9l\u00e9ments finis (FEA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le d\u00e9fi de fabrication est majeur : ces composants comportent de nombreuses dimensions critiques qui doivent toutes \u00eatre maintenues dans des tol\u00e9rances strictes simultan\u00e9ment. Un \u00e9cart de seulement 0,1 mm au mauvais endroit peut entra\u00eener un grippage ou une perte d\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de freinage. Ces \u00e9tudes num\u00e9riques permettent de r\u00e9duire la masse de 40 \u00e0 50 % en supprimant la mati\u00e8re dans les zones faiblement sollicit\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats sont spectaculaires : des formes organiques et fluides, qui semblent presque avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00ab cultiv\u00e9es \u00bb plut\u00f4t que dessin\u00e9es. Mais elles sont aussi complexes \u00e0 produire. Les contre-d\u00e9pouilles n\u00e9cessitent des outillages sp\u00e9cifiques, et plus l\u2019optimisation est pouss\u00e9e, plus le co\u00fbt de fabrication augmente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous apprenons \u00e0 trouver le juste compromis : utiliser le design g\u00e9n\u00e9ratif pour identifier les chemins de charge optimaux, puis ajuster manuellement la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie afin de la rendre compatible avec les proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de fabrication. Nous d\u00e9veloppons un v\u00e9hicule dont chaque composant a \u00e9t\u00e9 analys\u00e9, optimis\u00e9 et affin\u00e9 pour remplir sa fonction avec un minimum de mati\u00e8re \u2014 avec des masses unitaires de l\u2019ordre de quelques dizaines de grammes, tout en conservant la pr\u00e9cision requise pour la comp\u00e9tition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au-del\u00e0 des performances techniques, la valeur de ce projet r\u00e9side aussi dans l\u2019ampleur du d\u00e9fi par rapport \u00e0 nos moyens. Nous sommes des \u00e9tudiants b\u00e9n\u00e9voles, disposant d\u2019\u00e9quipements acad\u00e9miques et de budgets limit\u00e9s, face \u00e0 des \u00e9quipes b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiant d\u2019un soutien d\u2019ing\u00e9nierie professionnel. Chaque partenariat industriel a un impact direct et concret sur notre comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-en-route-vers-la-competition-2026\"><strong><strong>En route vers la comp\u00e9tition 2026<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Notre objectif imm\u00e9diat est le Shell Eco-Marathon 2026. Nous sommes convaincus que le ch\u00e2ssis de Fuel Fighter 5, associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des syst\u00e8mes optimis\u00e9s et aux enseignements tir\u00e9s des saisons pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes, nous permettra de viser une place sur le podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour les \u00e9tudiants confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des d\u00e9fis d\u2019ing\u00e9nierie similaires, une le\u00e7on s\u2019impose : les partenariats de fabrication sont bien plus importants qu\u2019on ne l\u2019imagine. Les logiciels avanc\u00e9s de CAO et de simulation FEA montrent ce qui est th\u00e9oriquement possible, mais la r\u00e9alisation concr\u00e8te des pi\u00e8ces exige une v\u00e9ritable expertise industrielle. Il est essentiel de s\u2019entourer de partenaires capables d\u2019allier pr\u00e9cision et efficacit\u00e9, et de transformer des g\u00e9om\u00e9tries complexes en composants physiques respectant les tol\u00e9rances, sans d\u00e9passer le budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l\u2019approche de la saison 2026, nous sommes impatients de voir ce que des partenariats en fabrication de pr\u00e9cision peuvent apporter \u00e0 notre \u00e9quipe. Avec les bons outils et les bons partenaires, nous sommes convaincus que Fuel Fighter saura mettre en lumi\u00e8re l\u2019excellence de l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie norv\u00e9gienne sur la sc\u00e8ne
