Le d\u00e9fi consistait \u00e0 creuser rapidement (et le plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment possible) un tunnel de 30 m\u00e8tres de long pour 50 centim\u00e8tres de large. Sur les 400 \u00e9quipes inscrites au concours, seules 12 d\u2019entre elles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 retenues pour aller \u00e0 Las Vegas faire la d\u00e9monstration de leur invention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s avoir pass\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9tape de s\u00e9lection, l\u2019\u00e9quipe TUM a mis en place l\u2019organisation \u00e0 but non lucratif \u00ab TUM Boring \u00bb, laquelle a rapidement \u00e9volu\u00e9 pour int\u00e9grer pr\u00e8s de 60 \u00e9tudiants issus de 16 universit\u00e9s distinctes et r\u00e9partis dans diff\u00e9rents pays. Cette m\u00e9thode d\u2019excavation \u00ab \u00e0 sec \u00bb avec ses tapis roulants permet d\u2019atteindre un meilleur taux d\u2019\u00e9jection et, par cons\u00e9quent, de creuser \u00e0 plus grande vitesse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Un syst\u00e8me de propulsion hydraulique<\/strong> localis\u00e9 dans le puits initial, capable de supporter des forces de pouss\u00e9e allant jusqu\u2019\u00e0 500 kN afin de permettre l\u2019avanc\u00e9e de la t\u00eate de coupe dans le segment de tunnel en cours de forage. Con\u00e7u \u00e0 partir de deux cylindres hydrauliques fonctionnant en alternance, il permet un avancement continu vers l\u2019avant, ce qui est assez r\u00e9volutionnaire dans l\u2019industrie de la construction des tunnels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Un magasin rotatif pour les tuyaux,<\/strong> situ\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re, stocke tous les segments de canalisation et permet de passer rapidement d\u2019un segment \u00e0 un autre, avec un temps d\u2019attente minimal. Sa structure devait combiner tous ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments, tout en \u00e9tant suffisamment robuste et puissante pour pouvoir creuser le sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure l\u2019urgence<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Presque tous les composants m\u00e9caniques, y compris les \u00e9l\u00e9ments massifs de la t\u00eate de coupe (tous usin\u00e9s en CNC), les tapis roulants, le magasin \u00e0 tuyaux et le syst\u00e8me de propulsion ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s sur mesure afin de satisfaire aux besoins de l\u2019\u00e9quipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Xometry a donc fourni \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe toutes les pi\u00e8ces essentielles. Des pi\u00e8ces en acier, vari\u00e9es et complexes, comme les joints de cardan du tunnelier, usin\u00e9s en CNC, les \u00e9l\u00e9ments m\u00e9caniques du syst\u00e8me de propulsion, d\u00e9coup\u00e9s au laser dans la t\u00f4le, sans parler des supports du magasin \u00e0 tuyaux, qui devait \u00eatre capable de supporter huit tonnes en charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Le calendrier du projet \u00e9tait ambitieux : il nous fallait planifier la production, les tests et l\u2019exp\u00e9dition d\u2019une machine particuli\u00e8rement complexe en l\u2019espace de seulement un an. Les livraisons rapides et \u00e9chelonn\u00e9es de Xometry ont vraiment \u00e9t\u00e9 un atout qui nous a permis d\u2019y parvenir \u00bb nous confie Dmitry Burlakov de l\u2019\u00e9quipe TUM Boring. Competition, \u00e9dition 2021 : la victoire<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Remporter la comp\u00e9tition a \u00e9t\u00e9 possible gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 diff\u00e9rents facteurs, \u00ab le plus important \u00e9tant le haut degr\u00e9 de motivation de l\u2019\u00e9quipe d\u2019\u00e9tudiants, dont les membres ont travaill\u00e9 nuit et jour pour tenir des objectifs particuli\u00e8rement ambitieux \u00bb nous explique Dmitry. \u00ab Cependant, il faut \u00e9galement rendre justice \u00e0 nos partenaires industriels, comme Xometry, gr\u00e2ce auxquels nous avons pu avoir acc\u00e8s \u00e0 toutes les ressources et les savoir-faire qui ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 notre succ\u00e8s. C\u2019est leur soutien qui nous a permis d\u2019\u00eatre si bien pr\u00e9par\u00e9 pour le concours, ce qui a donn\u00e9 un gros avantage \u00e0 notre \u00e9quipe \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9quipe TUM Boring \u00e9tait l\u2019une des deux derni\u00e8res \u00e9quipes encore en lice suite \u00e0 la r\u00e9union de sensibilisation aux consignes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, conduite quatre jours avant la comp\u00e9tition proprement dite, au cours de laquelle les dix autres comp\u00e9titeurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 disqualifi\u00e9s.
