En tant que preuve de concept, l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe a voulu d\u00e9velopper cette plate-forme et l&rsquo;utiliser pour \u00e9tudier les effets de la microgravit\u00e9 et du rayonnement spatial sur des cellules de levure. C&rsquo;est ainsi qu&rsquo;est n\u00e9 le projet pluridisciplinaire AcubeSAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le projet a rassembl\u00e9 des \u00e9tudiants et des chercheurs ambitieux ayant une formation en sciences STIM (sciences, technologies, ing\u00e9nierie et math\u00e9matiques) et en sciences biologiques. Cependant, le groupe n&rsquo;avait pas de d\u00e9partement spatial d\u00e9di\u00e9 au sein de leur universit\u00e9 o\u00f9 ils pouvaient \u00eatre guid\u00e9s par des experts et \u00eatre en mesure de mener leurs exp\u00e9riences. C&rsquo;est pourquoi l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 un programme de l&rsquo;Agence spatiale europ\u00e9enne (ESA) pour recevoir de l&rsquo;aide dans le domaine a\u00e9rospatial. SpaceDot a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi parmi de nombreuses autres \u00e9quipes universitaires europ\u00e9ennes qui souhaitaient r\u00e9aliser une mission spatiale pour faire partie de la troisi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration du programme du Bureau de l&rsquo;\u00e9ducation de l&rsquo;ESA \u2013 \u00ab&nbsp;Fly Your Satellite 3&nbsp;!&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"nanosatellite-acubesat-au-croisement-de-lespace-et-de-la-biologie\"><strong><strong>Nanosatellite AcubeSAT : Au croisement de l&rsquo;espace et de la biologie<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>George Pliakis, chef de projet chez SpaceDot, a expliqu\u00e9 que SpaceDot avait eu l&rsquo;id\u00e9e de cr\u00e9er une exp\u00e9rience biologique dans un nanosatellite apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que moins de 10 des 2 500 vaisseaux spatiaux envoy\u00e9s dans l&rsquo;espace \u00e9taient destin\u00e9s \u00e0 \u00e9tudier un syst\u00e8me de nature biologique, principalement en raison du d\u00e9fi que cela repr\u00e9sente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le nanosatellite comporte un vaisseau sous pression construit en interne contenant un microscopique laboratoire sur puce. Ce bloc de forme rectangulaire comporte de nombreux canaux complexes et interconnect\u00e9s qui contr\u00f4lent avec pr\u00e9cision la distribution du liquide \u00e0 une \u00e9chelle microscopique. Chaque cellule contient une prot\u00e9ine sp\u00e9cifique dont le niveau de production et l&rsquo;\u00e9volution seront observ\u00e9s. Dans le m\u00eame temps, les cellules seront \u00e9clair\u00e9es par un PCB LED en forme d&rsquo;anneau \u00e9mettant de la lumi\u00e8re bleue. Cela nous permet de voir \u00e0 quel point les cellules sont fluorescentes et de tirer des conclusions apr\u00e8s quelques mois\u00a0\u00bb, ajoute-t-il. La m\u00eame exp\u00e9rience est en cours sur Terre, avec exactement les m\u00eames param\u00e8tres, pour pouvoir comparer la fa\u00e7on dont les cellules sont affect\u00e9es par les conditions dans l&rsquo;espace. L&rsquo;exp\u00e9rience sera r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e sur trois points temporels distincts tout au long de la dur\u00e9e de vie de la mission.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"un-seul-prototype-de-vol-destine-au-vol\"><strong><strong>Un seul prototype de vol destin\u00e9 au vol<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Dans l&rsquo;industrie du g\u00e9nie a\u00e9rospatial, il existe deux principales approches. La premi\u00e8re consiste \u00e0 disposer d&rsquo;un mod\u00e8le de qualification et d&rsquo;un mod\u00e8le de vol. La deuxi\u00e8me consiste \u00e0 avoir un prototype de vol (expression valise cr\u00e9\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de \u201c\u00a0prototype\u00a0\u201d et de \u201c\u00a0mat\u00e9riel de vol\u00a0\u201d), qui est un mod\u00e8le unique pour la qualification et le vol\u00a0\u00bb, d\u00e9crit Mavropulos. SpaceDot a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d&rsquo;opter pour la deuxi\u00e8me approche, car il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une option plus rentable et plus rapide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ne pas r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 lancer le satellite lors de leur premi\u00e8re tentative pourrait avoir un effet d\u00e9sastreux sur le projet. Cependant, pleinement consciente des risques encourus, l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe de SpaceDot a fabriqu\u00e9 une copie carbone du satellite qui volera en orbite. L&rsquo;\u00e9quipe d&rsquo;ing\u00e9nieurs a analys\u00e9 minutieusement chaque d\u00e9tail du projet, des pi\u00e8ces m\u00e9caniques aux puces microfluidiques et au syst\u00e8me de communication.
