I’m developing a set of adjustable brackets to secure 30 mm diameter aluminum tubing in a display frame. Each bracket will have a split collar design with an M6 through-bolt for clamping and needs to maintain grip under ~2 kN axial load without damaging the tube surface. Would MJF with PA12 (possibly glass-filled) be a good option here, or would CNC-machined POM or another engineering plastic be better for long-term dimensional stability?

      POM is a superior material to PA12, even glass-filled. POM has higher tensile strength, better dimensional stability, and lower moisture absorption (if you’re worried about humidity). So the short answer is that you should use POM if you can.

      There is one reason why you may still need to take the PA12 over the POM, which is the complexity of your adjustable brackets. Is your planned design easy to machine? Or do you think you’d need 3D printing to achieve the design? If there are complexities you want to include that can’t easily be machined, then you’ll need to go with the MJF process (with PA12 GF) to achieve that.
