Laser engraving on sheet parts

hi, I am designing a series of flat sheet metal parts (about 4mm thick) that will be laser cut for a structural assembly. The design includes several mounting and alignment holes that need precise labeling for assembly purposes. I’m looking to engrave identification numbers and alignment guides (around 1mm depth or less) directly around each hole. Does anyone have experience with combining laser cutting and engraving in a single operation? If so, is there an impact on cutting precision or part integrity when switching between cutting and engraving settings?
