I am looking for the best 3D printing option to produce highly detailed miniatures for a tabletop game. The parts range from 30 mm to 50 mm in height and include intricate details like facial expressions, armor, patterns, and fine textures. I’ve heard that resin printing is the go-to method for this application, but I’m not entirely sure which specific resin-based technology would be the best fit.

Hi Eddie, most resin-based printers work by curing a photopolymer with light, and all of them can produce highly detailed features on the model sizes you are looking at printing. You will be amazed at the level of detail that can be achieved with even the cheapest entry-level printers, a quick Google search for the best SLA printer will highlight several top-quality suppliers like Eegoo or Anycubic for example.

        You can’t really go wrong with the cheapest models, even those that are 2 or 3 years outdated will still achieve what you need.

      You can usually determine the level of quality by checking the printer’s screen resolution, the higher its resolution the finer details it can print. For your application, a 4k resolution will be more than sufficient and even a small print bed of around 200 x 100 will be good enough as resin printers print extremely quickly.
