Any favorite underrated DFM trick?

Hello! Recently, I’ve been refining some precision features like thread depth, fillet dimensions, and flat-bottomed drilled holes to enhance manufacturability. It got me thinking—what’s your favorite underutilized DFM trick that makes a big difference in your designs or just brings a bit of satisfaction when you apply it? Would love to hear the clever approaches others use to streamline their projects!

Solved by Rafael Angulo

One of my favorites is using circular relief cuts in the corners of square pockets or keyed features. It’s a great way to get around the fact that sharp corners aren’t machinable. Not only does it follow DFM best practices, but it also ensures that mating parts fit perfectly. I love seeing this trick used because it’s simple and effective, especially when designing for CNC machining. If you’re working on tight tolerances, this method can be a lifesaver!
